Lastly, thanks to one of my Destiny 2 clan mates - I wanted to share this great cover of Right In Two by a couple of great string musicians out of India called Beard of Harmony. You can catch them playing live via streamingĪnd also buy and watch previous performances on-demand.
That said - if you're pining for something new to listen to, Danny is still playing shows with The (Doug) Webb Allstars at the small-but-amazing Baked Potato venue in Studio City (Los Angeles). I have a list of closeįriends who rely on touring as their main source of income and I feeel for them. We're all in various states of lockdown, tours have been cancelled and personally, I missed out on my 8th TOOL show because of it. Not a lot to say these days - but wanted to drop by to say something anyway. I hope and offer thanks to the Mighty Blind Io that you are all healthy and staying safe. We're all in a tough spot these days, but I wish you all well.Ĭontinue the Spiral. I hope everyone is able to sit and listen to the album today - on vinyl, obviously - and I hope you can reflect on the past 20 years in a positive light. Live concert, ever, and the first of seven Tool shows I've since seen. Shortly after the release, I travelled from my small-ass-town in Northwestern Ontario to Montreal. It changed my life in a remarkable way - as I'm guessing it did for many who were already fans - and perhaps more so for people who were knew to the band, as I was.
This tv commercial from 2001 intrigued me enough to buy the album on release day. I'd heard TOOL on MTV's M2 channel a few times but didn't know their music at all and I remember thinking - "Who the hell is Tool?". Everything is sitting there, digitally ready to roll, it just needs someone to do the mix.I was 18 at the time - working in a bike & snowboard shop and obsessed with Metallica and the Smashing Pumpkins.
They recorded analog, dumped it to digital, then edited with Pro Tools and created a digital master, which was used to master the CD.īarresi hinted at the possibilities of a 5.1 mix in one of the first interviews he did on the album. The CD was created from the masters.if that's what you're talking about. I want it recorded from the masters, but Adam seems to not wnat to step into the 21st century, or release it in 20 years time, he knows this band has laid the golden egg. One question: How about the dynamic range? Is it as compressed as the original or even more?:D. This album has some serious potential for spacial effects, Barresi also mentioned the 24Bit/192kHz sources kept somewhere in a safe place. 1 at all (all that standards, speaker alignment, you'd need a separate room with the couch in the middle:P). I'd really check it out, but I own a stereo system only and I'm not looking forward to get 5. I'm pretty sure it's just an unofficial remix. I would never of course encourage ripping the band off via illegal downloads! Cheers, Jaap.
I did a search for this but found nothing so: Has anyone heard the DTS 5.1 version of 10,000 Days which is floating around on various torrent sites? I just listened to it and thought it was pretty good, perhaps a little too much coming from the sub but I managed to turn that down.Īny other opinions? NB: I have of course bought a copy of 10,000 Days so thought there no harm downloading the torrent.
